Dublin born and bred, our business was founded in the heart of the old Dublin Fish Market over six decades ago. Since then, we’ve grown, but that same energy still drives us today. Proudly independent, family owned and fiercely passionate about all things fish.
1966
The Beginnings
Kish Fish was established by Tadgh O’Meara and Danny Hughes in the bustling Dublin fish market, Ireland’s central hub where fishers sold their catch to fish mongers around Ireland. Kish Fish was named after the new Kish lighthouse that was built in Dun Laoghaire harbour and towed out to the Kish sand bank, just off the coast of Dublin Bay.

1979
Expansion
An ever-increasing popularity for seafood in the greater Dublin area helped us grow and fuelled the need for expansion. We began processing, distributing and smoking fish from our new facility in Dublin’s Bow St.
1987
First Retail Shop
We opened our first retail shop in Bow St. Serving the local community. Our shop in Bow St. is one of Dublin’s original and oldest fishmongers still open today.
2008
Growing Demand
As the demand for seafood grew so did we. We expanded our production capabilities by moving to our custom-built facility in Coolock. We opened our factory shop to the public, serving the wider community.
2016
Expanding our Range
The acquisition of Thomas Mulloy Ltd., on Howth’s West pier allowing us to expand our own smoked seafood range for wholesale and retail distribution.
2017
Avoca Partnership
In partnership with Avoca we opened our new fish counter in Dunboyne. Avoca and Kish Fish’s brand-new offering serving Dunboyne and surrounding areas.
2019
Seafood Market
We opened the Kish Fish café alongside our refurbished shop in Howth. Serving fresh seafood, fish and chips in the picturesque Harbour.
2020
Production Kitchen
We launched our own range of ready to eat meals, sauces and chowder from our new production kitchen in Howth. Producing an award-winning range of seafood dishes that are easy to make at home.
2024
A Rebrand
A brand refresh marks a new era for Kish Fish, reflecting our modern approach while honouring our rich heritage and dedication to quality seafood.
